We walked up the stairs of one of the many grey brick buildings on the East Side of Hitotsubashi campus. We were accompanied by several of our international friends -- the Swedes, Germans, and so on. I was nervous for our first Global Business lecture with Professor Shu -- he seemed incredibly accomplished. He advised Margret Thatcher, already wrote and translated 47 books. A global elite. What did I have to offer?
It didn't take me -- or really anyone in our class-- long to realize that this was not going to be a regular lecture. It was going to be fun ... because as Shu always said "why not?" From learning about the global business leaders of the world, attening class karaoke sessions to haning out on a Tuesday -- Professor Shu gave a unique insight about the Japanese culture.
